Dr. Miriam Zemanova, Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin
I pursued university degrees in ecology, biological conservation and natural resources management at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague and Cranfield University. I obtained a PhD in population genetics and community ecology at the University of Bern, and for my dissertation received the Bernese Award for Environmental Research.
During my postgraduate studies I have become increasingly aware of the ethical aspects of research that involves animals. In 2016 I was the main organiser of the workshop Animal Ethics and Law in Life Sciences.
My current project (supervised by Prof. Dr. Markus Wild) focuses on animal welfare and ethics in ecological research, and it is financially supported by the Animalfree Research Foundation.
